CLASS OF '73 ENDOWMENT FUND

 June, 2003

Dear Member of the Class of 1973:

As you can see from the rest of the great info in the packet, the 30th reunion really is just around the corner. While you’re thinking about all the fun to be had and making your final arrangements, please give a thought as well to a contribution to our Class Endowment Fund.

A year ago, when the planning for the reunion was just getting underway, we wrote to ask you for a show of support as a Class for the Academy. We set a moderate goal of $346.00 per class member, which would increase the Endowment Fund by $73,000. In the past year the response has been encouraging. Almost one-third of the class has made some contribution – some big, some small – but all appreciated. Unfortunately, we are still far short of our goal. Some of you may think that even this relatively modest goal was never realistic and, therefore, are not surprised. However, there is still time and, if everyone pitches in, the results will surprise a lot of people.

So, if you’ve been putting off a decision or a contribution now, in the last four months before we gather in New London, this is the chance to join your classmates in this effort. We can still make a significant statement. Sure, there are a lot of other demands and worthy causes. But you didn’t invest four years of blood and sweat into most of them. Let’s really celebrate the institution that, for better or worse, went a long way to making us what we are today.

To make your contribution, send a check to the USCGA Alumni Association, 47 Mohegan Avenue, New London, CT 06320. Just note “Class of 73 Endowment” in the memo portion. If you would like to increase your Association membership level, or contribute by credit card, call the Alumni Association office at (860) 444-8237. If you want to prove that you are part of the wired world, you may log on to the website at www.uscgaaa.onlinecomunity.com. Whatever way works best for you, just so that we get the maximum participation, and don’t forget corporate matching gifts!

Thanks again to everyone who has helped out. Hope to see all of you at the Academy in October.

Sincerely,

Class of 73

Thirtieth Reunion Committee
